We don't pick lighting from a catalogue. We specify it.
EFFIMEL is a direct-to-home lighting label. We write the specification for every piece we sell, have it built by long-standing partner workshops, and ship it to you factory-direct.
Most lighting labels are buyers. They pick a finished piece from a catalogue, add their name, and a margin is taken at every step between the bench and your ceiling. We work the other way round: the drawing comes first, it goes to workshops we have used for years, and the finished piece comes to you without a retail floor in between.
From the workshop floor to your ceiling
We sell online and buy direct from the workshops that build our pieces. There is no showroom floor, no distributor tier and no retail chain to pay for — so a fixture built to this standard costs less here than the same thing does under a department-store label.
It also means we can answer questions a catalogue seller cannot. Ask us the gauge of the brass, why a canopy is cast rather than stamped, or whether a chain can be lengthened, and the answer comes from the drawing we wrote and the workshop we placed it with.
Specified by us, built by the workshops we trust
Every piece on this site begins as a specification we write: dimensions, materials, metal gauge, glass type, finish and wiring. It goes to partner workshops we have worked with for years, is built to that drawing, and is checked against it before it is crated. We do not run a production line — we decide exactly what gets made, by whom, and to what standard.

Glass
Hand-blown and hand-cut to our spec — clear, smoke, amber, fluted, hammered, seeded and alabaster.

Metal
Forged iron, cast and solid brass, machined fittings, then finished by hand in the tone you chose.

Assembly & inspection
Wired to U.S. standards, test-lit, and checked against the drawing before anything is crated.

Real materials, finished by hand
Hand-blown and hand-cut crystal glass. Alabaster quarried in slabs and lit from within. Forged iron, cast and solid brass, ceramic, rattan. Materials chosen because they age well, not because they photograph cheaply.
Nothing here is plastic with a chrome coat. You feel it in the weight of a canopy, in seams that line up, in a patina that deepens instead of flaking. Those are the parts nobody markets and everybody notices.
Four things that come with buying direct
We can change the drawing
Diameter, drop, finish, glass, socket count, chain or rod. Because the specification is ours, our partner workshops can build to it rather than to a fixed option list.
Built to U.S. code
Wired for 110–120V, UL/ETL listed where applicable, damp-rated options, dimmer compatible.
One landed price
Free U.S. shipping with duties and tariffs already paid. Nothing is collected at your door.
Backed for life
We keep the drawing and stay with the workshop that built your piece, so the right replacement part can be ordered instead of the design being written off.
If it does not exist yet, we will draw it
Custom sizes, finishes and glass for private homes, interior designers, luxury hospitality and multi-unit projects — built by the same workshops, to the same standard, as everything else in our catalogue.
